Ahoy! Class 3 Assembly

15th June 2023
Class 3 gave a fantastic performance in their Explorer themed assembly this morning. They did themselves proud! 😊 Their ideas for what to include, how to act and props that were needed were excellent. Special thanks to Joshua for all his suggestions (too many to mention!); to Stephen for making the prototype for the buckles as worn on the shoes of Captain Cook & the First Officers, and to Mrs Sellars for carrying out the role of Costume Fitter with ease and expertise! 😊
We hope you enjoyed their performance.
Well done to you all – remember to carry your message with you as you travel through life …. Be strong and persevere with any challenges you face!
Thank you, Mrs Gentry

Eco Club

22nd May 2023

At Eco Club we have been thinking about the importance of using water carefully and not wasting it. Some of us created posters to give some suggestions of how we can save water. We know that turning off the tap whilst we are washing our hands or brushing our teeth is an easy way to save water. Did you know…. that switching from handwashing to dishwashing can save 6000L of water a year? And… turning off the tap while you brush your teeth can save 6 litres of water per minute! WOW! 😊

Right up our Street!

18th May 2023

As part of their geographical and historic studies of the local area, Class 4 drew field sketches of the houses on Dudley Road. They then studied the census data from 1891 and discovered who lived on this street. There were bookbinders, agricultural workers, a train driver, several tailors, a school governess, a green grocer, a coal merchant, a coach painter, an iron founder as well as a lady who ran a lodging house. They also discovered that several of the houses had housekeepers or domestic servants living within the household.

Kindness Workshop

16th May 2023
This morning, as part of the school’s mental health week, Class 3 and 4 took part in a kindness workshop run by 52Lives. They discovered that kindness:
– Helps us feel happier.
– Gives us healthier hearts.
– Slows down aging.
– Helps us live longer.
Afterwards the children created a variety of items to give to others as an act of kindness – cards, a car with inspirational Bible verses on, pop up pictures, miniature Pringles tubes containing ‘cardboard Pringles’ with positive messages on them.
They also discovered that kindness is contagious and that just one act of kindness can reach 125 people!!
How could you be kind to someone today?
