Baking Basics

Later in the term, year 3 and 4 will be cooking up a Roman Feast for Key Stage 2. Today they began the learning process, making basic scones. They have developed their understanding of food hygiene processes, perfected their weighing and measuring skills and worked well in a team. We hope you enjoy the tasty treats after tea!

Former Headteacher passes away

Mrs Vi Meredith, the founder headteacher of Dudley House School, sadly passed away last Friday. Our condolences and prayers are with her family at this time.

Boccia Festival

On Thursday 12th January, 4 children from class 4 took part in a Boccia festival.  Boccia is a Paralympic sport similar to bowls, where children are seated and have to throw, roll or kick a ball to try and get nearest to the jack.  The children enjoyed trying out a new sport and came 7th overall.

Do you wash your hands properly?

As part of their learning children in Class 3 used ultra violet light and a special cream to identify parts of their hands that can still be dirty even after washing.  They discussed how microbes spread and how washing hands correctly helps keep you healthy.

 

There is nothing quite like handling the real thing!

Thanks to Grantham Museum, as part of their Roman topic, today Class 3 have handled real and replica artefacts. These primary sources are a vital part of understanding the past and make learning interactive.  They made careful observational drawings adding information from secondary sources.

 

New Books Arrive

Children were excited and eager to read the new books that arrived. A mixture of fiction, information and new reading books were bought with money raised at the Christmas Fair.
