Ant Farm

Today, Key Stage 2 have set up an ant farm in their playhouse. They have been busy trying to entice ants into their traps so they can place a small colony into their equipment. Should we have success, we will post pictures of the ant tunnels later in the term.

 

Daily Mile

We’ve joined the Daily Mile movement!

All of the Dudley House School family are participating in the Daily Mile initiative, as advertised recently on ITV. Every day, children and staff will run or walk for 15 minutes. Our aim is to increase fitness levels, improve levels of concentration and also to nurture a healthy lifestyle.

As you can see from the photographs, there are lots of smiles, so it appears that everyone is enjoying themselves too!

Book Prize

In assembly today, the children were shown the new books that were bought with our £500 Bronze Award Prize, for our World Book Day display. All children in KS2, will be bringing home one of the new books to read over the holiday.

 

Picture Book Creators

Children who attended the Picture Book after school club wrote and illustrated their own picture story book which they read out during assembly. The other children were impressed with the super stories that had been written and the wonderful illustrations they had drawn, painted and used other media to create. Children were presented with copies of their book, as the original books have been sent off to The Reading Zone for a World Book Day competition.

Golden Book Achievers

Well done to all those children who were in the Golden Book this morning and to those children who were presented with award and full attendance certificates in this morning’s assembly.

 

 

Easter Children

On Wednesday morning, all the children retold the Easter story through a musical entitled ‘Easter Children’ with every child in the school involved. The pupils performed and sang beautifully, with parents delighted and proud of their wonderful production.

 

 

Muntjac Visits School

There was a lot of excitement, on the playground, this morning, when a muntjac was discovered on the playing field!

‘Where did it come from? ‘How will it get home?’, were just some of the questions that buzzed around the playground.

Letters to Authors

Class 3 have been busy writing and editing a letter to an author this week. Today they posted their letters and are now waiting patiently to see if they received a reply.

 

Kids take over the museum

Today, a group of children went to Grantham Museum to put together their final display for the ‘Kids Take Over the Museum’ project. We were the first school to create a finished product. We would love you to visit Grantham Museum to see our work in situ. The exhibition opens on Thursday this week and will run until the end of April.

 

Visit to Museum of Lincolnshire Life

Children in class 2 had a fascinating time at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life today finding out about transport in the past and conducting investigations about how things move. Whilst at the museum, they also enjoyed finding out what shops and houses used to be like and the children were full of questions.
