Congratulations to all the children who were in this morning’s Golden Book.

Class 2 enjoyed sharing what they had been learning about plants in science, their knowledge of continents and oceans from geography, the story of David and Goliath that they acted out and a song that they had learned in music. Thank you to everyone who came and shared their learning.

At the beginning of the year, several children joined our ‘Picture Book Club’ that ran for six weeks after school. It seems a while since their completed picture books were sent to the competition facilitated by Readingzone, however the results are in and children from Dudley House School have been shortlisted and commended (4^th place) in two categories! Miss White and the staff would like to congratulate Ava, Faith and Isla for their creativity! Check out the website Reading Zone  and click on create a picture book competition to see for yourself! The competition runs each year and is open to schools, libraries and home entries across the UK. Children had to create an original picture book independently up to 24 pages long.

Young creators shortlist (4-7 years)

In this category, there were six shortlisted titles. Author, Rachel Bright, chose a winner, along with two runners up, but also commended Ava.

In the primary category (8-11 years)

In this category, there were ten shortlisted titles. Author, Rachel Bright, chose a winner, along with two runners up, but also commended Faith and Isla along with another in the category.

The Abandoned Shadow by Faith and Isla (Dudley House School)
Rachel Bright commented, “VERY good! Well thought out and original narrative and excellent illustrations. I really wanted Sammy to find his shadow! Well done.”

The Nursery and Reception children, in Class 1, read the story ‘Not a box’ by Antoinette Portis and then created their own inventions out of boxes. Look at their very exciting helicopter.

Congratulations to the children who were in the Golden Book and those who received certificates, in this morning’s assembly.

There was great excitement when children arrived in key stage 2 this morning to discover that a quail chick had hatched. During the day, the excitement grew as one by one tiny quails pecked and wiggled thier way out of their shells.

All the children took part in a sponsored challenge this morning where they had 10 different timed activities to complate.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this event that is raising money for our new sandpit.
