Golden Book Achievers

Well done to all the children who were in the Golden Book today and also to our ‘Star of the week’.

We will remember them

Hazel Class and Art club have collaboratively created a display for Remembrance. All children have been learning about the impact of war this week and have taken part in a simple service to remember the fallen.

 

Diwali

The Nursery and Reception children in Hazel Class have been learning about Diwali this week. They have listened to the Rama and Sita story, made Diwali cards, as well as decorating mehndi hands and making rangoli patterns. The children also made their own salt dough to make a diva and then painted and decorated it.

 

3rd Place in Poetry Competition

Dudley House are proud of our pupils achievement! Recently all the pupils in Birch and Oak class entered, The Willoughby Memorial Trust poetry competition for Lincolnshire schools on our poetry day back in October. This competition was judged by Chris Martin, Stamford Poet Laureate.

We were especially proud when a letter arrived today inviting a pupil to read her poem at a Prize-giving Evening on Friday 23th November 2018. Well done on achieving 3rd in your category!

 

Fruit Kebabs

In cooking club tonight, children created rainbow fruit kebabs. They chopped, peeled and selected fruit to make their colourful kebabs. They were delicious!

 

Enthused by Learning

It’s so lovely when children are so engaged with learning that they create additional homework pieces.
In Oak Class, we are learning about space in science and using Scratch to create simulations during computing lessons. Here is a screenshot of a Scratch programming that one pupil completed at home.

Investigating Planet Sizes

Children in Oak class have been investigationg planet sizes and their comparative distances from the Sun. They used a peppercorn to represent Mercury and a watermelon as the gas giant Jupiter. They used a trundle wheel to measure comparative distances from the Sun. If Mercury was just 1 metre from the sun, then Neptune was more than 70 metres away.

Rockets Galore

The Nursery and Reception children have been learning all about Bonfire Night. Here are some pictures of the amazing display they have created. They thought of some interesting words that described what they saw and heard.

Delicious Vegetable Soup

Today children in Birch class made their own delicious vegetable soup, that they took home for their tea.
