Investigating Microbes

Today class 4’s science lesson was all about microbes. First they performed an investigation that illustrated the importance of washing hands with soap. They dipped their finger in water and pepper and found their finger covered in pepper. However, when they covered their finger in soap, this repelled the pepper and their finger came out clean. After, the class set up an investigation to observe yeast feeding on sugar at different temperatures. They were surprised how much the balloon inflated with carbondioxide. They learnt that some microbes are bad but many are good, helping us with digestion and in food production.

Sticky Nests

Children had a sticky time in ‘Spring Activities’ club tonight soaking wool with gloopy glue and then carefully positioning it over a bowl to create their own nests.
I wonder what they will make to put in it next week?
