This morning children received certificates and trophies for all the amazing things that they had achieved this year. As well as saying good bye and wishing those moving on all the very best, we also enjoyed a lovely musical recital from the children have been having lessons. We were very impressed at how much they have improved this year. Well done everyone.

The day started with making pizza dough, then gymnastics on the large apparatus before selecting toppings and making pizzas to be eaten at lunch. The afternoon was filled with craft activities such as making chess pieces out of clay and making humming birds using the paper art form of origami modelling. A great day was had by all.

Bastille Day

This afternoon, we enjoyed leaning more about French culture and tasting French food. We also played Boules and other games and had a competition to see who could build the highest Eiffel Tower with spaghetti and marshmallows.

Summer Camp

When we arrived back at our campsite we had great fun playing with bubbles, before tucking in to a delicious camp tea. We learnt how to use a fire steel to safely light a piece of cotton wool. We then learnt about fire safety and how to build a camp fire. Toasting marshmallows over the fire was a huge hit. They were delicious!! We then enjoyed singing lots of camp fire songs and playing ‘Animal rhythm’ and other games, before hot chocolate around the fire. It was then in to school to get washed and ready for bed. In the morning we enjoyed eating our breakfast alfresco around the camp fire in our pajamas. We then emptied our tents, packed away our things, washed and got ready for the school day. We have had the most amazing experience at our summer camp.

Setting Up Camp

Today we learnt how to set up tents and peg them securely to the ground, ready for our summer camp. It was hot work, but we took regular breaks in the shade. Next we blew up our airbeds and put them in our tents along with our bedding. Once the campsite was all ready, it was then off to the hills and hollows to forage for dry wood for our camp fire. The views from the top were beautiful. We spotted many of the landmarks in Grantham, before heading back to school for an afternoon of fun and games.

Butterflies Set Free
