Class 1 Make Lunch Fit For A Lighthouse Keeper

Class 1 have been enjoying a story about a Lighthouse Keeper called Mr Grinling. Some cheeky gulls kept stealing the delicious lunch, that had been prepared for him by his wife and sent on a pulley from their house to the lighthouse. As part of their Literacy work, the children had been thinking of ways to stop this happening. This morning they have made their own sandwiches, just like Mrs Grinling. They remembered to wash their hands before starting and then were able to choose from a range of fillings, having a go at spreading, filling and cutting. They then enjoyed a bonus breakfast picnic on the carpet.

Class 2 How They Have Changed

Class 2 really got a surprise during today’s science lesson. We were talking about how we have changed since we were babies. They came up with some great ideas. But to help them see how they had changed photos of them as babies appeared!!!! The children loved seeing themselves as babies and remembered lots of ways in which they had changed. Mums and Dads had sent the photos in without the children knowing and the children loved this surprise.

Class 3 Tie Dye

Yesterday Class 3 did some tie dyeing. Today the dyed fabric is drying in the sun. Class 3 are very happy with the colourful rainbow they have created!

Gardening Club

Tonight was the first meeting of the after school gardening club. The children started by doing some weeding of our pots and then added fresh compost and plants. These were then given a good drink of water. Finally the children planted some sunflower seeds in 2 pots each. At the end of term, we are going to see whose has grown the tallest.

Class 1 The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch

Class 1 have been looking at a lovely story this week which has inspired some super writing, great imaginative play and also led us to start some art work. The children have been looking at the story of ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ and have finished their lighthouse art work today. Don’t they look great! We thought carefully about the different textures and effects we need to represent and how we could do this. Well done everyone.

A Visit From an Electrician

Class 1 are so lucky! Yet another ‘fix it’ opportunity today. An electrician popped in to fix some strip lights in our classroom and the children were very interested. He was impressed that they knew which tools he was using and how to be safe as it was electricity. Some apprentices in the making apparently.
