Golden Book Achievers

Congratulations to the children in the Golden Book this week. Our year six child was chosen for her performance of the excellent poetry she had written. All of class three were chosen for the hard work they put in to creating their assembly, and one child was chosen for his excellent progress in reading. In class one, our nursery child was chosen for his counting skills and his excellent singing and the reception children were chosen for their amazing Sunflower paintings. These paintings will be shared at their class assembly, next week.

St Peter’s Hill Recreated

After studying the local area, class 3 and class 4 have created a 3D model of St Peter’s Hill. Class 1 made some trees and bushes. Do you recognise any of the buildings?

Class 3 Assembly

Class 3 shared their learning about the British Values of individual liberty, democracy, rule of law, mutual respect and tolerance. We hope you enjoyed the assembly.

Reading Zone

We’ve appeared on the Reading Zone Facebook page. They very much enjoyed reading our entries from last term’s book club and we are just waiting on the judges’ final decision, ready for an announcement next week.

Original storytelling from Dudley House School in Grantham
These picture books were created by children aged four to nine years at Dudley House School in Grantham and each of them is original and beautifully illustrated. Their ideas ranged from ghosts and clocks to tigers in space and jungle fairs. They were all well told stories and we’re delighted to share some of their internal pages here. Well done to all these young authors and illustrators!

Golden Book Achievers

Congratulations to all the children who were in the Golden Book or received a certificate in this morning’s assembly.
Our nursery child was chosen for being a good friend and an enthusiastic learner; our reception child was chosen for his improved writing, remembering finger spaces and sounding out words; our class 3 child was chosen for trying really hard to improve presentation and for having a go at trampolining and our class 4 child was chosen for her concentration during art day, enabling her to do her best, and her willingness to help with clearing up at lunchtime and in the afternoon. The certificate was awarded for achieving one hundred stickers.

Art Day

To start the day, the children worked collaboratively to create a collage of the Union Flag using cuttings from magazines. Key stage 2 continued the British Values theme by creating clay tile reliefs depicting scenes representing the values and class 1 created pattern effects by stamping objects into their clay tiles. Once dried, all of these will be displayed in the hall. After lunch, the whole school began work on creating a 3D model of St Peter’s Hill consolidating their learning of the local area and developing their understanding of the local community.

Jump Revolution Festival

This afternoon, some pupils were given the opportunity to attend the first ever Jump Revolution Festival organised by Inspire+.
They spent 3 hours jumping with their team mates, participating in dodge-ball against other schools, basketball shooting, team work on the balance beam, a personal agility game and children in class 4 were offered the opportunity to practise their jumping from height! Tianna was chosen to complete the final activity – the gladiator challenge – an obstacle race against other schools. She did us proud! It’s smiles all round and hopefully an early night!

Bug Hunt

Some of the children went on a bug hunt around the school field this afternoon. We found lots of bugs, which we tried to identify and sketch before returning them to where we found them. One child found a rotting conker containing numerous bugs!
