Class 2 Visiting the Council Office to Celebreate Commonwealth Day

The children in Class 2 have been to the council offices today to help Grantham celebrate Commonwealth Day. We listened to a message from the Queen read to us by the Mayor. We also waved flags from different commonwealth countries. Dudley, our school mascot came too. Can you spot him in the pictures? We all received a certificate to acknowledge our participation in the Commonwealth Flag raising ceremony too.

Book Characters from Potatoes

This year the children created book characters out of potatoes as part of their Brain Builder homework for World Book Day. They also shared the story that had inspired them to make their character. The effort and creativity that went into this was amazing and made it very hard to award the four winners.
Thank you so much for all the time and effort that you put into this Brain Builder.

Golden Book Achievers

Congratulations to everyone who was in the Golden Book this morning and also to those who received a silver certificate.

Robin Hood

Today children in class 4 made origami book marks and finished their Robin Hood characters for display.

Tasty Greek Food

As part of their learning for design technology this term, Class 4 researched both ancient and modern popular Greek food dishes, creating posters for the classroom. Today, they had a tasting session, combining different foods and making notes about flavour and texture.

Congratulations to all the children who were in the Golden Book today and to those who received their silver certificate.

Investigating Microbes

Today class 4’s science lesson was all about microbes. First they performed an investigation that illustrated the importance of washing hands with soap. They dipped their finger in water and pepper and found their finger covered in pepper. However, when they covered their finger in soap, this repelled the pepper and their finger came out clean. After, the class set up an investigation to observe yeast feeding on sugar at different temperatures. They were surprised how much the balloon inflated with carbondioxide. They learnt that some microbes are bad but many are good, helping us with digestion and in food production.
