Robot Creations

To finish off our Toys topic, the children in Class 1 have been making junk model robots. They chose their own boxes and how they wanted their robots to look. With a little help from Mrs Glover, they fixed their boxes together and painted them or used foil. Later in the week, the boys were each given their own box of buttons, pipe cleaners and other decorative bits and bobs.
They all had a lovely time choosing and adding ‘controls’ and ‘switches’ to their robots as well as making the faces.
They worked carefully and imaginatively on these. Even when they found things tricky, they kept going and really enjoyed themselves.
Your robots looks amazing boys – well done!

Sports Day Practice

Today some Class 4 pupils practised for sports day next week.

Hungry Caterpillar Puppets

In Design Technology lessons the children in Class 2 will be making puppets. Today we made a moving ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar’. They were great fun to play with.

Icecream Treat

We all enjoyed an icecream today to help us cool down. Even the teachers! They were delicious.

Name Painting

This morning the boys in Class 1 were amazed to find their names written outside. They each had a paintbrush and some water and enjoyed ‘painting’ over the letters in their names and watching what happened. They all knew that the water disappeared because “the sun dried it”. They loved it so much that they kept asking for their names to be written again and again!

Stop Motion Productions

Today Class 4 used Stop Motion software to create their interpretation of the story Eric by Shaun Tan. Some children created a moveable Eric character, others adapted the storyline and some added sound effects.
The story explores cultural differences as the foreign exchange student Eric arrives and is interested in very different things to those the family imagine.

Golf in the Sun

Class 4 practised their chipping and putting skills in the sun today, before making their own golf courses.

Class 3 have had an exciting week back at school. They have enjoyed going outside to identify the compass points. They also enjoyed studying the life of French artist Henri Matisse and painting The Vase and designing brightly coloured collages using his design.

Teddy Bear Picnic

This week, the children in Class 1 have been thinking about Teddies. Today they brought their teddies to school and hoped to have a Teddy Bears picnic on the school field, in the sunshine. As it was raining, they had their picnic in the classroom instead. They even made teddy ears to wear and had their food on teddy plates.

To finish off our Teddy Bears Picnic day, the children loved making these bear hand puppets. We used brown paper lunch bags.

King Jehoshaphat

This week in R.E. Class 4 have learnt about King Jehoshaphat. They were amazed how his army won the battle by praising and playing musical instruments as they marched to the battle site.

2 Chronicles 20 (NIV)

15 He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.
