The children have begun to learn how to knit for the first time in Wool club on Thursday after school. Look at these concentrating faces. They all did well and will continue their efforts next week.

Today the children did these lovely paper craft umbrellas. We really enjoyed it!

The children in Class 1 listened to a story about a little boy making a fruit salad with all sorts of different fruits. They then discussed their favourite fruits and did some research on the computer, with Mrs Glover, to find out where that fruit comes from. The children realised that a lot of the fruits, they like, need warmer weather to help them grow. This means that their fruits can’t be grown here but are grown in other countries and then are transported, by boat or plane, to England and delivered to our shops. We looked at some of these countries on our map and in Atlases. The children then wrote about this.

Science club had a challenge to build a tall structure that would hold a table tennis ball. The children rose to the challenge and have proved themselves to be engineers of the future. All succeeded, so a very well done.

New term, new topic. In Class 1 this term we will be learning all about food. We will use lots of stories as starting points and will also look at the journey of food from field to plate.

Today we started with a science experiment – looking at some vegetables and how they grow. The children all had a good look at and smell of the vegetables and then used safe knives to cut small pieces off the main part. These smaller pieces were then put into bowls of water. We are going to observe them over the next week and see if we notice anything happening.
