Still Life

A still life was set up in Class 3 yesterday. To enhance their observational skills, the pupils first did a continuous line sketch, then a blind sketch before lightly sketching and painting using tempera or water colours. I think you’ll agree they look stunning.

Guided Reading Inspired Science

Today in Class 3 our guided reading was a non-fiction text all about water transportation. We used the text to answer questions about how water towers use gravity to provide constant water pressure to our homes. We also learnt how, the scientist and mathematician, Archimedes invented a device to allow water to travel uphill for irrigation purposes. In class we made our own versions. AM and ST even managed to get theirs to work!

Amazing Cars

Class 2 have been very busy designing and making vehicles. They are amazing and very fast.

Bird Feeders

The children in Class 1 are working hard in Lockdown. As part of our Winter topic, they have been thinking about what winter is like for birds and animals. Today, they have used some instructions, taken from the RSPB website, to make bird feeders to help the birds through this cold weather.

Hedgehog Homes

One of the tasks that the Class 1 children have been set is to make a hibernation home for a Hedgehog. Each child was given a small Hedgehog, kindly knitted by Mrs Glover (Senior), and a link to an online story called ‘Don’t hog the hedge’. A, who worked carefully to make her home for ‘Hattie’ Hedgehog using a shoe box lid, a cardboard tube, glue, different shades of brown paper, matchsticks, raffia and some white sand to represent the snow.
Well done, Hattie looks very cosy.
