Thank you to all of you who came along and supported the children, in our annual sports day. We were very grateful for the cooler weather!

Congratulations to the children in today’s Golden Book assembly. The class 1 child was chosen for trying his best and good listening, the class 3 child was chosen for her working hard on area and perimeter and the class 4 child was chosen for his excellent expressions in drama work.

Congratulations also to those children who received certificates.

Congratulations to the children who were in this week’s Golden Book and who received certificates. The year 6 children were chosen for the Golden Book for challenging themselves to write their monologues as a poem. A child from class 3 was chosen for being a good role model and a child from class 1 was chosen for settling in well in her first week.

Today has been Science day. We have been learning all about elephants. In our house groups, we have:
• Planned and made structures that will bear the weight of a (toy) elephant.
• Considered the habitat where an elephant will live and discussed why it is important to know what conditions animals need to thrive.
• Predicted and tested different materials suitable for an elephant keeper’s coat, testing for waterproofing.
• Learnt about the different parts of an elephant and amongst other things experimented which ears lost the most heat and predicted how long an elephant’s tail is.
Today has been a lot of fun as well as opportunity to answer all sorts of questions, using our investigative skills to find the answers.
